Hello friends,
Just returned home from a whirlwind weekend in Seattle where I had the privilege of attending a Flora Bowley workshop – Bloom True. To add some icing to the cake..it was held at the Artfest Annex, Teesha Moore’s lovely studio in downtown Seattle.
I learned some new tips and techniques. I learned a lot about mark making and different supplies. Most importantly though I walked away with some life lessons around the process of creating and expression. A very well-rounded weekend!
I think I am going to need a few days to digest and absorb my weekend before I post about it. I want to make sure I am able to relate the full experience to you.
Until then…I will leave you with my weekend creations. Liking the poppies. Undecided about the bee. He may just fly away..
How decadent is it to be able to spend two full days painting?
Very decadent.
Feeling very grateful. Thank you Flora!
Have you thought about trying Floras painting class online? I have taken both and her online class is just like having a little bit of Flora right in your studio! For more info click here!
P.S. Thank you all for your help and suggestions regarding my ripped canvas. I am very inspired to do many different things…I believe this is going to become my “practice” canvas. One I can detach, sew, collage, paint…and then re-frame. Very intrigued with disassembling and reframing…
So vibrant! Isn’t it great when you get all inspired by a course. Creative energy is infectious!
Julie, your paintings are beautiful! I can’t wait to hear more. So glad that you had a wonderful time.
Gosh girl, these are both great, but I have to say that I love, love the first one and would hang it in my house in a heart beat. I am so jealous. I’ve wanted to take Flora’s workshop, like forever! I wish she would come closer to Texas. She will be in Mexico in January for a weeks long retreat, but I can’t swing the cost of that one. So happy you got to do this.
I am liking the poppies…the bee, well he may stay..he may go.
How do you like my new attitude? Non committal!
2 whole days of art – lucky you.
The outcome is fantastic 🙂
(Keep the bee)
Nigel..thank you so much! Yes, the bee will probably end up staying as I am feeling a bit done with that piece and excited to move on!
wow these are gorgeous!
Your paintings are gorgeous – I especially love those backgrounds and all the colors!! I think your bee is bee-yoo-tiful!!!
Love the poppies and kind of like the bee as well… it sounds and looks as though it was an amazing weekend and can’t wait to see what else springs off your brush in the next week
Hi Julie, Found you. Great blog. I’m a wordpress gal, too. Might have to ask you how you added the background. It was fun meeting you this weekend at Teesha’s. I’m posting on my blog tomorrow.
How jealous I am of your weekend!! Found you via AEDM…. And for someone who is particularly fond of bees, I think yours is lovely and I’m really liking the hive!! Very nice. Glad to have found you and will be finding my way back!
